Driving Records

Universal submits requests to the state agencies in each location where the driver has held a motor vehicle record (operator’s license) over the last three years, as stipulated by 49 CFR 391.23. After hiring, regulation 49 CFR 391.25 mandates annual rechecks of the MVR for any infractions.


Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Test

In compliance with 49 CFR Part 40 Subpart F, DOT drug screenings test for five specific drug categories: Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates (including opium and codeine derivatives), Amphetamines and methamphetamines, and Phencyclidine (PCP). DOT alcohol screenings detect alcohol levels of 0.02 and above and must be conducted using a method approved by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
